In 2022 commercial services were responsible for 1.3% share & public services were responsible for 1.1% share of Ireland's provisional greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
The commercial/public services sectors estimate emission from fuel combustion for space and hot water heating in commercial and public/institutional buildings in Ireland. Emissions from commercial services increased by 0.2% and public services decreased by 1.9% in 2022 compared to 2021 emissions due to a decrease in natural gas and oil use in the public services sector.

Under the With Existing Measures scenario, emissions from the commercial and public services sector are projected to decrease by 19% between 2021 and 2030 to 1.2 Mt CO2 eq. Under the With Additional Measures scenario emissions from the commercial and public services sector are projected to decrease by 49% between 2021 and 2030 to 0.8 Mt CO2 eq. This scenario assumes full implementation of the Climate Action Plan 2023.
