This is a detailed examination of some of the findings of the 'Climate Change in the Irish Mind’ 2021, Wave 1 baseline study. This report shows that despite high levels of concern among the Irish public about climate change and high levels of overall support for climate action, there remains a sense that people in other countries and in the future will be more impacted than Irish people in the here and now.

This is a detailed examination of some of the findings of the 'Climate Change in the Irish Mind’ 2021, Wave 1 baseline study. This report indicates that the majority of Irish people support climate policies. Opposition to climate policies does not appear to be reflective of climate denial, underlying concerns, or suspicions around climate change, rather it is related to local issues and concerns.

Air quality in Ireland is generally good, however, there are concerning localised issues that are impacting negatively on the air we breathe. Ireland met all of its EU legal requirements in 2022, but it did not meet the new health-based WHO guidelines in 2022. Ireland and Europe should move towards achieving the health-based WHO air quality guidelines.
